AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the deputy director of programs, develops and delivers resident disciplinary system as well as the resident activity and family programs. Assists unit managers as needed in implementing programs and program integrity and ensuring unit cleanliness and functionality. Supervises basic training and drug educaton staff and programs.
Responsible for assisting in the overall security of the units, supervising assigned staff and managing resident behavior. Assists in assuring that the units are in compliance with operating standards by the American Correctional Association, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and the facility governing board.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Assists with hiring of unit personnel. Maintains a safe, secure, and sanitary environment within the units.
Assists in the coordination of the scheduling and activities for assigned unit staff. Responsible for unit compliance with minimum operating standards from federal, state and local authorities.
Position assists deputy director of programs with budgeting. Serves as a unit manager when needed.
**REQUIRES WORKTO BE COMPLETED ON WEEKNIGHTS AND WEEKENDS**
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, stooping and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to transfer up to fifty (50) pounds. Visual ability sufficient to operate equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in the field of criminal justice, social services or related field required. A minimum of 18 months experience in corrections is required. supervision experience preferred. good oral and written communication skills and the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within a team approach is important. Must possess valid Ohio driver’s license.
